I made the decision to pursue a Diploma in Optometry with Singapore Polytechnic 3 years ago because there was a direct 2 years honours programme thereafter with The University of Manchester, UK available in Singapore; the course was to be held at Singapore Polytechnic. In addition, the course fees were similar to that of a local university; hence affordable.

Unfortunately, I received an email earlier today only to be informed that the board has made a decision to discontinue the programme with effect from the April 2013 intake.

Thankfully I had the smarts to apply for a place at the local universities in anticipation of the worst.
